Questions Worth Answering Before You Call
Compare what the price covers. Dr. Hunter's prices are by size, from $250 for a cat to $325 for a large dog; House Call Vet RVA's Dr. Kaitlyn Hemsley lists $365 to $435 depending on zone, travel included; CodaPet's $350 is a starting figure; Lap of Love's $495 includes standard travel and keepsakes.
Check your county. Lap of Love lists Richmond, Henrico, Hanover and Goochland but not Chesterfield; Dr. Hunter covers all five.
Ask where the cremation happens. Agape Pet Services, owned by Gateway Services, a group we do not recommend, handles aftercare for Capital Home Veterinary Care, which quotes its home euthanasia by phone, and is one of Dr. Hunter's two partners. He also works with Caring Pet Cremation, an independent Richmond crematory listed in our Richmond cremation guide.
