What Affects the Price
Availability comes first. Aquamation facilities are far fewer than flame crematories, and for 58 of the 174 cities on our site we found no provider within reach. Some providers serve a wide area: Utah Pet Aquamation covers Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden, and Companah in North Carolina collects from cities across the state. Confirm that a provider serves your address before comparing prices.
Your pet's weight sets the price, as with flame cremation. Where providers publish their bands, the steps are clear: Companah charges $195 for an individual aquamation up to 30 lbs and $220 for 31 to 50 lbs; Aqua Bridge near Minneapolis charges $325 up to 40 lbs, $350 for 41 to 75 lbs and $400 above; Honor Pet in Los Angeles charges $349 under 20 lbs, $399 for 20 to 80 lbs and $449 above.
Individual or communal is the second choice. In individual (private) aquamation your pet's remains are returned to you; in communal aquamation they are not, and the price is usually lower. Some providers scatter communal remains for you: Peaceful Waters near San Diego scatters them at sea off Oceanside, and Paws at Peace in New York in a natural setting.
The provider matters more than the city. Published prices for a medium dog range from Petamorphosis in Macon, at $230 to $250 for individual aquamation, to providers charging $400 or more. Resting Waters in Seattle, part of Evvi Aftercare, lists $459 with the ashes returned within two weeks and $920 for a fully private aquamation, so ask exactly what each tier means.
What is included varies. Many packages include an urn, paw prints and a fur clipping; others charge separately. Pickup from your home or vet may be included or extra, so compare totals rather than headline prices.
Turnaround is often longer than flame cremation. Many aquamation providers return remains in one to two weeks, and some sooner, so ask before you book if timing matters.
How We Collected This Data
Prices come from our own city pages. For each aquamation city page with a featured provider, we record the published prices for a medium dog: the lowest and highest individual and communal prices among the featured providers. Because one provider often serves several cities, we counted each distinct set of prices once: 33 for individual and 22 for communal aquamation, checked in September and October 2026. The typical provider is the median, and lower-cost and higher-cost providers are the lowest and highest quarters. The examples in the text are published prices read on each provider's own website in the same period. Prices change, so confirm the total when you book.
